Option offered through Computer Science, A.S. The Data Science Option offered through the Computer Science, A.S. program provides students with essential computer science knowledge alongside specialized training in data science. Core courses encompass programming, algorithms, and database management, while the data science option introduces statistical analysis, machine learning, and practical data visualization using tools like Python and SQL. Graduates are well-prepared to apply their data science skills across various domains.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply analytical and critical thinking skills to solve real world problems using data science approaches.
  • Implement machine learning algorithms for predictive modeling and pattern recognition.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Recognize and appreciate diverse perspectives in the application of data science, fostering an inclusive approach to problem-solving that prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Communicate data-driven insights effectively through written reports and visual presentations.
  • Exhibit an understanding of ethical considerations in data science and adhere to responsible data handling practices.

After UCNJ

Graduates can transfer to a four-year college or university and are eligible to take advantage of the many transfer/articulation agreements UCNJ has with some of the top four-year colleges and universities in the country.  like NJIT, Rutgers, and Kean University See a transfer advisor for details.
